Boost Your Burn
We all know someone who eats like a horse and never gains a pound, and everyone wonders where all of those calories go. Well, thanks to recent studies, metabolisms are no longer such a mystery. And while genetics and gender do play a role in metabolism speeds, there are ways to jumpstart it and keep it burning calories like they were going out of style!
Exercise more often. The more lean muscle you have, the more calories you burn throughout the day. Muscle burns calories even when you are resting, in fact, each pound of muscle in our bodies burns about 35 calories a day, while each pound of fat burns just 2 calories a day! *Arizona ladies that want to be in prime shape, check back soon for information on a SoTru Sponsored Bootcamp!
Add interval aerobics to your workout. Studies show that interval cardio workouts are the most effective aerobic exercises for calorie burning. Choose a full body workout like running, jumping rope, or running stairs, and alternate between a hard pace and an easier pace every few minutes. For an even better boost in the metabolism, switch to several different stations for a few minutes each, for a total of at least ten minutes.
Hit the weights. Although cardio burns more fat in one sitting than weight training, incorporating weights into your workout will help you increase muscle mass, which burns more calories throughout the day. Using weights will also rev up your metabolism so you burn calories for hours after your workout. Ladies, don’t avoid the weight machines because you are afraid of bulking up, women don’t have the hormones necessary to develop huge muscles like men! Thank goodness.
Eat breakfast. It has been proven that people who eat breakfast lose more weight than people who skip it. That’s because when you sleep, your metabolism slows way down, and it doesn’t speed back up again until you eat something. A balanced breakfast such as eggs and piece of whole grain toast will give your metabolism the kick it needs to start burning calories.
Check back here in a few days for more tips on how to rev up your metabolism to full speed in part two of this blog!

STRESS FREE HOLIDAYS
The “happiest time of the year” is here. The Holiday season brings family members together, smiles to little ones faces, parties and celebrations galore. However, tagging along with all the fun is the seasonal stress of the endless to-do lists; shopping sprees for loved ones, preparing for parties, in-town relatives and keeping up with family customs… it can all take a toll on your health if you don’t slow it down. Staying Focused During the Holidays
So it’s that time of the year again. Most of us have a million and one things going on, and our brains forgot to mentally prepare us for the holidays. It seems like we ring in the New Year one second, and the next thing you know another one has flown by! Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and pies are right before us. For some of you, it’s just another season passing by. But for most of us, it is another season full of social gatherings, sweet temptations, last minute cocktail parties, and shopping deals that can leave you waiting in line all day long! READ MORE
Standing out from the Rest!
I don’t know if you take your vitamins or not, but I really believe that they help fill in the gaps to my sometimes not-so-great eating habits (restaurant reviewing doesn’t always entail a ton of vegetables and healthy lean proten).
But not all vitamins are created equal. That’s why I like SoTru. Their products are high quality, yet affordable. They also don’t work with third parties, so they are hands on throughout the process. READ MORE
